West Coast Racers, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain, California
West Coast Racers is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California with four magnetic launches and four inversions, reaching up to 55 miles per hour (88 kilometers per hour). The track runs parallel, and the ride travels twice through the circuit.
The attraction opened in January 2020 after delays caused by late track deliveries that were expected in 2019. The construction needed additional months before operations could start.
The attraction carries many car design elements from the racing scene known in this region, and its form was influenced by automobile themes of the West Coast. The trains travel through a replica workshop that recalls the reality of car customization inside Southern California.
The ride shows interactions between the parallel trains that crews can see when both vehicles roll through the course. The track contains thirty-four interaction steps between the simultaneous runs.
The two trains meet fourteen times at crossings and then once at a point where riders seem to wave directly at each other. This element is the only such built feature on roller coasters where this high-five gesture can be experienced during the ride.
