Giant Forest, Ancient sequoia forest in Tulare County, United States.
Giant Forest is a woodland area in Tulare County spanning about 1,880 acres at roughly 6,000 feet elevation. It contains hundreds of giant sequoia trees, including the General Sherman, one of the world's largest trees.
The area gained protection through the establishment of Sequoia National Park in the late 1800s. Between 1995 and 2000, commercial structures were removed to restore the forest's natural state.
The Giant Forest Museum, housed in a converted market building, displays exhibits about sequoia ecology and forest conservation through educational programs.
The forest is reachable via State Route 180 from Fresno or State Route 198 from Visalia, with parking areas scattered throughout. Trails vary in length and difficulty, ranging from short walks to longer hikes among the giant trees.
The Tunnel Log is a fallen sequoia tree that visitors can drive through with their vehicles, offering an unusual experience. This drive-through passage cannot be found in any other national park in the country.
