Hazelwood Tree, Giant sequoia in Giant Forest, Sequoia National Park, California.

Located at an elevation of 6,457 feet, this giant sequoia reaches a height of 229 feet with a trunk volume of 32,610 cubic feet.

Wendell D. Flint and Michael W. Law discovered this tree in 1989, which later lost 3,600 cubic feet of its mass during a 2002 lightning strike.

The Hazelwood Nature Trail near the tree provides educational information about redwood forest ecology and conservation methods to visitors throughout the year.

Visitors can reach the tree through a 0.4-mile trail from the parking area on Generals Highway, requiring a moderate 113-foot elevation gain.

This sequoia ranks as the 27th largest tree in Sequoia National Park and stands as the 20th largest specimen within the Giant Forest area.
