The United States Congress established Sequoia National Park on September 25, 1890, making it the second national park in response to concerns about logging threats.

Visitors can access the park through two main entrances, with a weekly vehicle pass costing 35 dollars that includes entry to Kings Canyon National Park.

Mount Whitney, located within the park boundaries, stands as the highest peak in the contiguous United States at 4,418 meters above sea level.
