Tunnel View, Scenic viewpoint in Yosemite National Park, United States.
Tunnel View is a scenic overlook in Yosemite National Park that frames the valley's most famous granite formations and waterfall. El Capitan rises on the left, Half Dome stands in the center, and Bridalveil Fall streams down on the right, creating a wide panoramic composition.
This overlook opened in 1933 alongside the Wawona Tunnel, which pierces through solid granite beneath the overlook. The tunnel's completion made the valley much more accessible to visitors arriving by road.
Photographer Ansel Adams created iconic black and white images from this spot, making it a symbol of American natural heritage and a destination for photographers worldwide.
A large parking area provides year-round vehicle access, and the viewing platform is wheelchair-accessible for all visitors. Early morning or late afternoon offers the clearest views and fewer crowds, with better light on the granite cliffs.
The overlook was unnamed until the Wawona Tunnel's entrance became its defining feature and inspired the name. Today the tunnel portal frames the view, creating a natural doorway through which the valley landscape appears.
