Lehamite Falls, Tiered waterfall in Yosemite National Park, United States

Lehamite Falls is a tiered waterfall in Yosemite Valley that cascades down the granite cliffs of the Sierra Nevada. The water flows through narrow channels and creates multiple steps before forming a distinctive shape at the base.

The waterfall was first documented in the 19th century by European settlers who explored the Yosemite region. These early observations marked the beginning of European awareness of this natural landmark.

The name Lehamite comes from Native American language and refers to a plant that once grew in Indian Canyon. The naming shows the deep connection between the land and the peoples who lived here for generations.

You can view the waterfall from several viewpoints that are easily accessible across meadows and near the village. Spring brings the strongest water flow, making the experience particularly impressive.

The water flows through a narrow slot in the granite rock and creates a distinctive horsetail shape at the lower end. This unusual formation results from the specific geometry of the rock and is a rare feature among waterfalls.
