Housekeeping Camp

Housekeeping Camp is a campground in Yosemite National Park with 266 three-sided concrete structures with canvas roofs, positioned along the Merced River with views of Yosemite Falls and Half Dome. Each unit contains a bunk bed, double bed, table, chairs, electrical outlets, and mirror, with shared bathroom and shower access.

The site started as a practical solution to provide guests with accommodation between traditional camping and lodge stays. Over time, it became an established overnight option within the park.

The accommodations encourage outdoor meal preparation and shared gatherings among guests, preserving the camping spirit while offering basic shelter from the elements.

The accommodation is simply furnished and offers a mix of indoor and outdoor space with access to shared facilities. The riverside location makes it walkable to reach, but advance planning is needed due to its popularity and wildlife precautions.

The location offers direct access to sandy beaches along the Merced River where guests can swim and relax. However, strict food storage protocols are required due to local wildlife to avoid attracting animals.
