Curry Village, Campground in Yosemite National Park, US.
Curry Village is a campground offering diverse lodging options at the base of Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park, California. The property includes tent cabins, permanent buildings, dining facilities, restrooms, and picnic areas serving visitors year-round.
David Curry and Jennie Etta Foster opened the first camp in 1899 with seven tents as an affordable option compared to the expensive Sentinel Hotel. The settlement expanded gradually to become an established visitor center in the valley.
The settlement takes its name from the founders and serves as a gathering place where visitors meet and interact between hikes throughout the park. The lodging structures and shared spaces shape how people experience the valley and form part of the daily rhythm for travelers and staff.
The grounds are easily accessible and busiest from spring through fall, though winter accommodations are also available. It helps to arrive early in the day to secure a good location, and the valley paths are flat and straightforward to navigate.
The site was temporarily called Half Dome Village from 2016 to 2019 before reverting to its original name due to trademark disputes. This unusual name change is a striking part of its recent history and often surprises visitors who know the older designation.
