Happy Isles, River island in Yosemite Valley, United States
Happy Isles consists of two distinct islands situated in the Merced River at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley, surrounded by granitic rocks and flowing waters.
The 1996 rockfall near Happy Isles caused significant changes to the landscape, leading to the installation of educational signposts about geological events in the area.
The Art and Nature Center at Happy Isles provides natural history exhibits and educational programs from April through October, sponsored by the Yosemite Conservancy.
The trail to Happy Isles extends 0.5 miles round trip from the trailhead, featuring paved paths suitable for wheelchairs and restroom facilities at the starting point.
This location marks a geological transition where the Merced River changes from a steep gradient to a flatter valley floor, creating distinct hydrological patterns.
