Goodsprings

Goodsprings is a small settlement scattered across the Nevada desert near Las Vegas, with homes and buildings spread across rolling terrain. The community consists mostly of individual houses and older structures dispersed throughout the dry landscape.

The settlement began around 1900 when rancher Joseph Good used a natural spring in the area. It later grew into a mining center for lead, silver, and gold.

The Pioneer Saloon displays objects and memorials that tell the story of the community, including a tribute to actress Carole Lombard who died in a plane crash nearby.

The area is best reached by car, as public transportation options are limited in this remote location. Visitors should bring plenty of water and be prepared for hot and dry weather conditions.

A nearby waste heat recovery facility converts excess heat from a pipeline compressor into electricity. This represents an interesting use of renewable technology in this desert region.
