The Parsnip Peak Wilderness spans 43,693 acres across the Wilson Creek Mountain Range, featuring elevations from 6,160 to 8,916 feet with varied forest cover.
The United States Congress designated this area as protected wilderness through the Lincoln County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2004.
The Mount Wilson Archaeological District within the wilderness contains numerous prehistoric sites, including rock shelters, rock rings, and ancient campsites.
Access requires travel on unpaved roads 14 miles north of Pioche off Highway 93, with visitors needing to bring maps and navigation tools.
The wilderness contains a geological formation called Indian Playground, which presents intricate rock patterns visible from elevated positions.
