Fortification Range Wilderness

The Fortification Range extends across 30,656 acres of Nevada terrain, featuring steep ridges, deep canyons, and numerous volcanic formations throughout the landscape.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management established this wilderness area in 2004 to safeguard the natural environment and preserve its ecological significance for future generations.

Native American tribes utilized these lands for hunting and gathering activities, leaving traces of their presence throughout the mountainous terrain.

Visitors need to bring adequate supplies and navigation tools, as the remote location offers no facilities and requires travel through unpaved roads.

The northern section contains massive rock outcrops and sheer cliffs, while the southern portion maintains dense forests of pinyon and juniper trees.
