Bright Angel Lodge, Historic lodge at Grand Canyon Village, United States
Bright Angel Lodge is a historic accommodation at the canyon rim offering about 90 rooms in different styles, from rustic cabins to standard rooms with exposed wood and stone. The buildings are arranged to resemble a pioneer settlement and include restaurants, shops, and a transportation desk for canyon tours.
Architect Mary Colter designed this lodge in 1935 using a rustic style that echoed pioneer-era construction. It was built when railroad companies and hospitality businesses were expanding tourism at the canyon.
The name comes from a small creek in the canyon that early travelers followed when exploring below the rim. Today, the History Room inside documents how restaurant operators and rail companies shaped tourism at this remote location.
The lodge includes two restaurants, a coffee shop, gift shop, and a transportation desk where visitors can arrange mule trips and bus tours to explore the canyon. It is helpful to arrive early to book tours and dining, as these services fill up quickly during busy seasons.
The Arizona Steakhouse serves meals throughout the day with windows framing views of the canyon itself. This restaurant is one of the few places on the rim where diners can look directly into the canyon while eating.
