Mount Nebo

Mount Nebo is the highest summit in the Wasatch Range, towering above the surrounding landscape with its steep rocky slopes. The mountain features two distinct peaks, with the northern one being the taller of the two.

The first documented ascent occurred in 1869, opening the mountain to further exploration and study. These early expeditions contributed significantly to mapping and understanding the geography of the region.

The mountain received its name from the biblical Mount Nebo in Jordan, where Moses observed the Promised Land before his death.

Hikers should carry sufficient water as there are no water sources along the routes to the summit. Preparation for changing weather conditions is important, especially during transition months.

The summit remains snow-covered for approximately nine months of the year, making hiking challenging during certain seasons. This extended snow coverage significantly affects when and how visitors can explore the mountain.
