Count Mercy d'Argenteau, Austrian ambassador to France, purchased the castle in 1775 to monitor Queen Marie-Antoinette's activities.
The castle grounds include a retirement center with 142 beds, established in 2006 following extensive renovation projects.
The castle archives contain 220 boxes documenting local history and family records, now preserved in the Val-d'Oise departmental archives.
