Clos des Lambrays

Clos des Lambrays is a Grand Cru vineyard in the Côte de Nuits spread across about 8.84 hectares and divided into three separate sections. Only Pinot Noir grapes grow here, developing their distinct qualities in the different soil types found in each parcel.

The estate goes back to 1365, marked by an engraved stone milestone, and gained its Grand Cru status in 1981. This recognition came after decades of effort by the Rodier family to improve the quality of the wine produced here.

This vineyard shows how Burgundian winemaking works through its stone walls and careful grape tending methods. The way grapes are harvested by hand and the soil is managed reveals how closely tied the land and wine are here.

Visitors should book a tour and tasting in advance, as the estate welcomes guests year-round with scheduled visits. It is best to avoid the harvest period when the vineyard cannot accommodate visitors.

The planting density of about 9,000 vines per hectare ranks among the highest in the region and follows strict quality rules. This high density creates stronger competition between the vines, which affects the character of the wine.
