Latricières-Chambertin

Latricières-Chambertin is a Grand Cru vineyard covering about 7.5 hectares on a slope with excellent sun exposure and natural soil drainage. The land is divided among twelve different owners, each managing their individual portion of the total area.

The vineyard received Grand Cru status in 1937, though records from 1507 already mention a site called Petite Merveille in this location. This early documentation shows the site has been recognized as a quality vineyard for centuries.

The name reflects a historical term for latrines that may have existed on the site in earlier times. Visitors can sense how local growers embrace this distinctive heritage when discussing their vineyard.

The vineyard is situated on a slope with natural drainage, so paths can become slippery during wet weather. The best time to visit and walk through the parcels is during drier months.

The Combe de Grisard creates a microclimate that is cooler than surrounding vineyards, resulting in later harvest times. This natural feature subtly influences the character of wines produced here.
