Snake River Canyon

Snake River Canyon extends over fifty miles through southern Idaho, reaching depths of 500 feet and featuring two major waterfalls along its course.

The canyon formation occurred through ancient basalt lava flows, with geological studies from 2000 indicating its structure predated the Lake Bonneville flood of 15,000 years ago.

The Perrine Bridge spanning the canyon serves as the only location in the United States where BASE jumping remains permitted throughout the entire year.

Visitors access the canyon through multiple points, including the Twin Falls Visitor Center and Shoshone Falls, with a 10-mile paved walking path along the South rim.

In 2016, stuntman Eddie Braun completed a successful rocket jump across the canyon, following the path of Evel Knievel's attempted crossing from 1974.
