The institution began in 1978 as California College for Health Sciences before adopting its new name in 2005. It merged with Stevens-Henager College in 2010 and closed in 2021.
The student population reflected substantial diversity, with 25 percent white, 14 percent black, 4 percent Hispanic, and 45 percent representing various other backgrounds.
The university accepted enrollments year-round with classes starting each month, making it flexible for working students. Courses were structured in four-week blocks to allow quick progression through programs.
