Essex Golf & Country Club

Essex Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole golf course set on expansive wooded grounds with strategically placed bunkers and water features throughout the layout. The property also includes a swimming pool and pro shop where golfers can purchase equipment and receive instruction.

The club began in 1902 as Oak Ridge Golf Club and merged with Walkerville Club in 1912 before relocating to its present location in the mid-1920s. This move established the foundation for the current championship-caliber course.

The clubhouse displays English country house design and serves as a social hub where members gather for dining and events throughout the year. This architectural style reflects the club's long-standing traditions and formal character.

The course operates throughout the golf season and offers professional instruction along with equipment rental and sales at the pro shop. Access is generally limited to members and their guests, so confirm your eligibility before planning a visit.

The layout was designed by Donald Ross, one of the most respected golf course architects of his era. The course gained recognition when a tournament record was set here during a championship competition.
