Tschima da Flix, Mountain peak in Grisons, Switzerland
Tschima da Flix is a mountain peak in the Albula range with three distinct summits linked by a rocky ridge running east to west. The elevation of roughly 3,300 meters makes it one of the main features of this Alpine chain.
The mountain has been climbed for generations by local mountaineers who helped map and explore this alpine region. The glacier fields on its northern slopes have served as landmarks for travelers and herders for centuries.
The name comes from the Romansh language still spoken in surrounding Alpine villages, simply meaning peak or summit. Walking through this region, visitors encounter this linguistic tradition in local signage and hear it spoken in mountain communities.
The best time to visit is during summer months when snow has melted and mountain routes are passable. The main starting point is near the Julier Pass, and proper hiking boots plus mountain experience are needed for the climb.
A glacier called Vadret da Calderas sits on the north face and can be spotted from approach routes, while the western cliffs drop toward Lake Marmorea below. This rare combination of ice and water visible from the summit creates a striking natural setting.
