Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel, hotel in Southern District, Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel is a hotel in the Southern District of Hong Kong, located directly beside the Ocean Park theme and marine attraction. It is made up of three low-rise towers with outdoor walkways lined with plants and a reception area featuring a large aquarium.
The hotel opened in late 2018 in Wong Chuk Hang, which at the time was undergoing change with the arrival of a new MTR line. It was built right next to Ocean Park's entrance, following the area's growth as a destination on the south side of Hong Kong Island.
The hotel name reflects its neighbor, Ocean Park. The ocean and marine life shape the interior design through art installations and sculptures throughout the property, creating a cohesive seaside experience.
Booking ahead is a good idea, as the hotel tends to fill up during holidays and weekends. A complimentary shuttle runs to Ocean Park, and the nearby MTR station makes the rest of Hong Kong Island easy to reach.
The check-in desk sits beneath a tall aquarium where fish swim overhead as guests arrive, making the first impression unlike most hotels. The Prohibition Bar serves cocktails in leather pouches, a nod to the secretive drinking culture of the 1920s.
