Deep Water Bay Beach, Beach in Southern District, Hong Kong
Deep Water Bay Beach is a sandy beach in Hong Kong Island's Southern District stretching about 400 meters along the shore. The water is clear and sheltered by surrounding green hills, creating a calm swimming area.
The area was first mapped by the British in 1841 with the original name referring to the bay's geography. What began as a small village eventually transformed into a recreational beach destination.
The beach attracts many local families and swimmers who come throughout the year. The protected bay creates a calm environment where people gather for swimming and social activities.
The beach has changing facilities, showers, and a parking area for visitors arriving by car. Additional amenities include a food kiosk, water sports equipment rental, and picnic areas with barbecue pits.
Two coastal paths link this beach to neighboring areas for exploring on foot. The Seaview Promenade leads toward Repulse Bay while the Mills & Chung Path provides access to Wong Chuk Hang.
