The Repulse Bay

The Repulse Bay is an upscale residential complex on Repulse Bay Road in Hong Kong's Southern District featuring multiple towers surrounding a central courtyard, marked by a distinctive opening spanning floors 16 through 24. The development combines modern residential units with preserved colonial elements and includes shopping facilities at ground level with direct beach access.

The current development stands on the site of the former Repulse Bay Hotel, built in 1920 and demolished in the 1980s after decades as a retreat for notable international figures. The original hotel served as a significant landmark during Hong Kong's colonial period before the residential complex replaced it.

The building's design follows feng shui principles with a large rectangular opening that allows dragons to travel from the mountains to Repulse Bay's waters. This choice reflects traditional Chinese beliefs that guided the planning of the site.

The complex is well connected by public transportation and located near local shops, restaurants, and Repulse Bay Beach. Keep in mind that this is a private residential area and the interior is not open to the public.

The building preserves pillars and archways from the former hotel and incorporates them into a shopping arcade at ground level, where visitors can see these colonial-era remains. This architectural blending connects two different periods on the same site.
