Hairpin Beach is a bathing beach on the eastern coast of the Stanley peninsula featuring fine sand and calm waters. The shore includes barbecue pits, shower facilities, and restrooms for visitor use.
The beach lost its lifeguard service in 2005 due to low visitor numbers, marking a turning point in its development. This change shaped how the shore has been used since then.
The beach area maintains connections to the traditional fishing communities that have long inhabited the Southern District of Hong Kong Island.
Swimming is not permitted as there are no lifeguards on duty. Visitors can use the barbecue pits and facilities while enjoying the quiet setting.
Water quality here has steadily improved since 2004 and is regularly monitored. Today the waters consistently show normal to good quality readings.
