Chung Hom Kok Battery

Chung Hom Kok Battery is a fortification set on elevated terrain with gun positions and ammunition storage areas overlooking the coast. The concrete structures are arranged across multiple levels and show how military buildings were constructed during the colonial period.

This fortification was built in 1938 and formed part of Britain's defensive positions against potential invasion threats. It served to protect the waterways around Hong Kong during World War II.

The Grade II heritage structure represents the military engineering practices of colonial Hong Kong through its preserved concrete fortifications.

The site is best reached on foot using hiking trails that start from residential areas in Southern District. The climb can be steep depending on your route and proper footwear is recommended.

The elevated position gave defenders a wide view over the southern waterways of Hong Kong. This strategic advantage made it a key point in coastal defense during that era.
