Wilson Trail, Hiking trail in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China
The Wilson Trail is a long-distance hiking path in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region crossing eight country parks between south and northeast. The route connects Stanley on Hong Kong Island with Nam Chung in the New Territories.
The path was laid out in 1996 and named in honor of Hong Kong's 27th Governor. The opening came in the final years of British administration of the territory.
Named after Sir David Wilson, who often walked these areas during his governorship. Today locals use the sections on weekends as an escape from the dense city life.
The ten sections have different difficulty levels and can be walked individually or combined. Hikers should plan between a few hours and a full day depending on the chosen segment.
The route crosses the MacLehose Trail and forms together with it a cross-shaped pattern through the territory. Some hikers combine both routes for a traverse from all cardinal directions.
