Metro Town, Residential skyscraper in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong.
Metro Town is a residential complex with four towers in Tseung Kwan O that reach 205 meters high, with the largest containing 62 floors of apartments. The complex houses thousands of families and includes various communal spaces for residents.
The project grew out of urban expansion in the 2000s when three major companies worked together to complete the first phase. This development was part of Hong Kong's larger effort to build near subway stations.
This residential complex shows how Hong Kong stacks people vertically and uses modern design to fit more homes into tight spaces. You see thousands of residents living their daily lives within a single complex.
The complex sits directly above Tiu Keng Leng MTR station, making it very easy to reach other neighborhoods by train. You can walk around the area and have direct access to bus stops and transportation services.
The complex was built with more than 1,600 units in its first phase, making it one of the largest housing projects in the region. The direct connection to the subway was an innovative approach to Hong Kong's urban planning at the time.
