Hong Kong Public Records Building, Government archives in Kwun Tong, Hong Kong
The Public Records Building stretches across ten floors, containing specialized storage areas for paper documents, electronic records, microfilms, and image collections.
The facility opened on June 19, 1997, under the presidency of Chief Secretary Anson Chan, marking the first dedicated archival building in Hong Kong.
The building preserves approximately 1.8 million historical records and 28,000 books, including documents from the Hong Kong St. John's Cathedral and Chamber of Commerce.
The Historical Archives Room operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:45 PM, with Saturday services available only through advance reservation.
The building houses the Reverend Carl Smith Collection, containing 139,922 double-sided information cards compiled through 25 years of research.
