Bailuzhou Academy

Bailuzhou Academy is an ancient learning center on an island in the Gan River in Ji'an, China, composed of stone and timber buildings arranged around courtyards. The main structure is a three-story building that anchors the complex, with other structures extending outward to form the full site.

The academy was established during the Southern Song Dynasty as a place where scholars gathered to teach Confucian philosophy and thought. Over time it grew into a major study center that attracted learners from across the region seeking advanced education.

The name comes from a white deer in local legend, a symbol connected to the site's founding and scholarly traditions. Visitors walking through the grounds today encounter spaces designed for contemplation and debate, reflecting how learning was organized in imperial China.
