Arrow Peak, Mountain summit in Grenadier Range, Colorado, US
Arrow Peak is a mountain summit in the Weminuche Wilderness of San Juan National Forest, reaching approximately 13,800 feet in elevation. Its slopes feature steep granite faces and metamorphic quartzite formations that create a distinctive rocky profile.
The first recorded ascent took place in 1908 when William Cooper and John Hubbard reached the summit. Later climbers in the 1930s established alternative routes across the saddle and up the rocky faces.
The peak ranks as the 123rd highest mountain in Colorado, standing among notable neighbors including Vestal Peak, Electric Peak, and Mount Garfield in the San Juan Mountains.
The approach starts at Molas Pass-Elk Park Trailhead at approximately 10,600 feet elevation and involves a hike of roughly nine miles round trip. The route requires significant elevation gain and passes through varied landscapes, with sections becoming increasingly steep near the summit.
The Beaver Ponds area at approximately 10,000 feet serves climbers as an important rest stop with natural camping spots. Many hikers use this location as a base before attempting the final rocky faces.
