Castle Apartments, Residential building in Albuquerque, United States.
Castle Apartments was a residential building housing twenty units arranged in a U-shaped layout around a central courtyard at the corner of 15th Street and Central Avenue. Each unit featured 9-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and central steam heating throughout the building.
The building was designed in 1922 by the architectural firm Trost & Trost and later added to the National Register of Historic Places. A fire in 2009 eventually led to its demolition in 2010.
The complex took its name from the neighboring Huning Castle mansion, linking it to Albuquerque's residential architecture of that era. This naming connected the apartments to the area's established homes and social landscape.
The site is located on a major street in central Albuquerque and was easily accessible from downtown areas. Since the building no longer stands, visitors can explore the history of the location through historical records and photographs.
The complex was featured in the television series Breaking Bad through footage of a 2009 fire that damaged the structure. This dramatic event became part of the show's visual storytelling before the building's eventual demolition.
