Provo City Center Temple, Religious temple in Provo, US.
Provo City Center Temple is a religious building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on University Avenue in Provo, Utah. The facade shows towers and windows in a Gothic style, and the grounds cover about 5.6 acres (2.3 hectares) in the downtown area.
A church building called Provo Tabernacle stood on this site since the late 19th century, until a fire severely damaged it in 2010. The church rebuilt the structure and dedicated it as a religious site in 2016.
The building carries design elements from the 19th century and shows handcrafted woodwork throughout its interior spaces. Members of the faith use these rooms for ceremonies and gather regularly within its walls.
Visitors must arrange appointments in advance, as the facility is reserved for specific religious ordinances and not open for spontaneous tours. The surroundings offer sidewalks and public areas from which you can view the exterior.
The outer walls of the former church building survived the fire and were incorporated into the new construction. This approach preserved the external form of the historic structure while the interior spaces were entirely redesigned.
