Hannah Maria Libby Smith House

Charles Warren Smith built this residence in 1878 for Hannah Maria Libby Smith, wife of a prominent church leader. The house was constructed during a period when the Mormon community was establishing permanent settlements in Utah Territory.

The house shows how Mormon pioneer families of the 1800s arranged their homes and lived their daily lives. Walking through its rooms gives a sense of the values and family structures of early Utah settlers.

Hannah Maria Libby Smith sold her previous home to raise funds for building this house. She lived here with her own children as well as an orphaned nephew she took in.
