Joseph H. Frisby House
Joseph H. Frisby House, Historic house in Provo, United States.
The Joseph H. Frisby House is a two-story brick residence in Provo featuring a central pyramid roof with projecting gables. Its exterior displays Tuscan columns, boxed cornices with decorative brackets, and triangular-top windows accented by patterned brickwork.
Built in 1906 for Joseph H. Frisby during his first year as Provo City Mayor, the house marked the beginning of his term in office. The property later passed to Charles Hopkins in 1913, becoming associated with multiple generations of local leadership.
The house reflects the architectural preferences of affluent families who lived in Utah County during the early 1900s. Homes like this one showed how wealthy residents expressed their status through distinctive design choices different from simpler local buildings.
This residence sits in a quiet neighborhood and can be viewed from the street, where its architectural details are clearly visible from the outside. The location makes it easy to explore the surrounding area and discover other historic homes nearby.
This architectural blend was uncommon throughout Utah and was particularly favored by wealthier residents in the region. The combination of Tuscan and Victorian elements stood out distinctly from the simpler building styles that dominated the local area.
