East Longs Peak Trail – Longs Peak Trail – Keyhole Route – Shelf Trail

This is a historic hiking trail in the Rocky Mountains leading to the summit of Longs Peak at over 14,000 feet (4,270 m). The route winds through forests, alpine meadows, and rocky sections, with the Keyhole portion featuring narrow ledges and steep rock faces.

The route was first built by Reverend Elkanah Lamb in 1878, marking early efforts in mountain recreation. Later improvements and extensions by other pioneers helped establish it as a major hiking destination in the region.
