Apgar Campground

Apgar Campground sits at the southern end of Lake McDonald and has 194 camping sites scattered through a wooded area with mountain views. The facility provides flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings for visitors.

The campground is located within Glacier National Park, whose landscape was shaped by glacial activity roughly 10,000 years ago. This ice-age history created the valleys and peaks that visitors see today.

Park rangers lead evening programs at the amphitheater where visitors learn about wildlife, geology, and conservation. These gatherings help guests understand the natural world around them in a relaxed setting.

The campground requires strict food storage practices because bears live in the area. Visitors should learn about these safety rules before arriving at the site.

Some specialized sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet long, while group areas can host up to 24 people. These options allow different types of camping parties to stay together by the lake.
