Kinnerly Peak, Mountain summit in Glacier National Park, Montana, US

Kinnerly Peak is a mountain summit in the Livingston Range within Glacier National Park, standing at approximately 10,000 feet. Its north face rises sharply above Upper Kintla Lake, creating a striking landmark in the surrounding mountain terrain.

The first recorded ascent took place in 1937 under the leadership of prominent mountaineer Norman Clyde. This early success brought the peak to the attention of the climbing community.

The peak belongs to a cross-border list of summits that connects climbers from both sides of the US-Canada border. This shared mountain tradition brings together mountaineers from different countries.

Climbers reach the summit via the northwest face from Upper Kintla Lake, with technically demanding sections graded between Class 4 and Class 5. Proper preparation and experience with steep terrain are essential for this route.

The mountain is made of rocks from ancient geological periods that were displaced over younger rock layers through massive earth movements. This underground shifting reveals fascinating geology that shaped the landscape millions of years ago.
