Two Medicine Store

Two Medicine Store is a historic general store built from log construction and natural materials in Glacier National Park that blends into the mountain setting. The building was part of a larger complex that once included guest cabins and visitor facilities.

The store was built in 1914 by a railway company seeking to develop tourism in the national park. After a fire in 1956 destroyed nearby buildings, it remained the sole surviving original structure from the complex.

The store shows how early park visitors were supplied using local materials and simple buildings adapted to mountain life. Its wooden construction and natural finishes reflect how people wanted to connect with the landscape rather than dominate it.

The store sits along a popular trail and is easy to reach when visiting Two Medicine Lake area. Visitors should expect seasonal limitations on supplies and varying hours that depend on the hiking season.

The building was originally part of a larger chalets complex with multiple guest houses and facilities. When fire destroyed most neighboring structures in 1956, this store escaped the flames and still stands today as a witness to that event.
