Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park

Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park is a protected area in Alberta's Kananaskis region containing mountains, forests, valleys, and river systems.The landscape features varied elevations and brings together different ecosystems within a continuous wilderness setting.

The wildland park concept began in 1995 as part of a program protecting natural areas across the region.Coal mining operations once worked in the northern sections, and traces of these activities are still visible today.

Visitors need a Kananaskis Conservation Pass to park vehicles throughout the park.When exploring trails, expect limited services and facilities, especially in more remote sections of the backcountry.

Park management deliberately avoids promotional signage along highways to preserve the natural character of the wilderness.This intentional restraint in marketing helps keep the place quiet and less crowded than many other protected areas.
