Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, Provincial park in Rocky View County, Canada.
Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is a protected area spanning 3,200 acres of grassland and ranch territory along the Bow River, with approximately 28 kilometers of maintained paths for walking. The land maintains its character as a working range while providing public access for visitors to explore the landscape.
The property was a private working ranch for generations before the Harvie Family established the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation in 2007 to protect it. This transformation created a new model combining active ranching with public access and land conservation.
The land is home to several communities including the Stoney Nakoda Nations, Tsuut'ina, Blackfoot Confederacy, and Metis Nation, who maintain their connections to this territory. Visitors can sense these relationships through the traditional use of the land and the names that mark these places.
The paths are walkable year-round and regularly maintained, allowing visitors to hike during most seasons. The visitor center provides information about trails, wildlife, and available programs, operating from sunrise to sunset daily.
The park actively manages herds of cattle across the property, making it an unusual place where conservation and ranching directly coexist. This approach helps maintain the grassland ecosystem naturally while supporting rural livelihoods at the same time.
