Colter Bay Village, developed area of Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA
Colter Bay Village is a settlement on the shore of Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park offering log cabins, tent cabins, and campgrounds for visitors. The village includes two restaurants, shops, a visitor center, and a marina with boat rentals and various support services.
The village began when John D. Rockefeller Jr. acquired the land and relocated historic homesteader cabins to this location from around the region. These early-1900s log structures remain on site and reflect the settlement era of the Wyoming area.
Colter Bay Village is named after a figure from the early exploration days of the area. Today it serves as a gathering place where visitors come to experience outdoor life in a way that honors the natural surroundings and the land's connection to its past.
The village operates from mid-May to early October and closes during winter months. Visitors should expect basic accommodations without air conditioning and can plan activities such as hiking, boating, and fishing according to the season.
The 166 log cabins are restored homesteads from the early settlement era, each carrying its own story from the pioneer past. These relocated structures together form a living museum of the area's settlement history.
