Kelly Canyon, Ski resort in Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Idaho.
Kelly Canyon is a ski resort spanning 740 acres of skiable terrain with 51 runs descending from its 6600-foot summit. The mountain is serviced by six lifts that carry skiers up the slopes, including four double chairlifts and two surface lifts.
E. Bud Johnson founded Kelly Canyon in 1957, opening winter sports activities to eastern Idaho near the Targhee National Forest. The resort has operated as a community-oriented ski area since its establishment.
The resort serves as a social hub where local skiers and visitors come together to enjoy the slopes and share meals in the lodges. The relaxed environment welcomes everyone from beginners to experienced skiers who want to spend time in the snow.
The resort offers night skiing from Monday through Saturday until 8 PM, allowing visitors to ski after sunset. It helps to check conditions before arriving, as the mountain relies on both natural snow and snowmaking throughout the season.
The mountain receives an average of 200 inches of snow each year, making it one of the more snow-reliable areas in the region. This substantial snowfall allows for full terrain coverage and skiing conditions throughout the winter months.
