The Spud Drive-In Theater spans 4.2 acres and features a giant potato mounted on a 1946 Chevrolet flat-bed truck at its entrance.
The Fence Company of Michigan and Ballentyne Company constructed this outdoor cinema in 1953, during the peak era of American drive-in theaters.
From 2004 to 2008, the theater hosted the SpudFest Family Film and Music Festival, initiated by Gilligan's Island actress Dawn Wells.
The theater continues regular movie screenings despite experiencing damage from a 2022 windstorm that required rebuilding of the screen structure.
MD Nursery acquired the property in August 2023, ensuring the preservation of this National Register of Historic Places listed entertainment venue.
