Stampede Corral, Indoor arena in Calgary, Canada
Stampede Corral was an indoor arena in Calgary with a rectangular concrete structure and seating for about 6,475 people arranged on multiple levels around a central event space. The facility hosted hockey games, rodeos, and skating competitions throughout its active years.
The building opened in December 1950 as a replacement for the older Victoria Arena and became a center for the city's sporting events. It served for decades as a venue for major regional and national competitions before being demolished in 2020.
The facility hosted numerous sporting events, including professional hockey matches, rodeos, and figure skating competitions during the 1988 Winter Olympics.
The former arena was located in southeastern Calgary and welcomed visitors on days when sporting events took place. The experience centered on attending live events like hockey games and rodeos, which happened throughout different seasons.
The building housed one of Canada's largest private collections of sports photography within the Calgary Stampede Archives until its demolition. This extensive collection documented decades of events and survives today only in digital form.
