Gladstone Hotel, historic building in Circle, Montana, United States
The Gladstone Hotel was a two-story wooden building in Circle, Montana, constructed in 1915. It originally had 20 guest rooms and was expanded with 10 additional rooms in 1948 during local development growth.
The hotel opened on Christmas Day 1915, years before the railroad reached Circle in 1929, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It burned down completely on September 21, 2023.
The building no longer exists after being destroyed by fire in 2023. Visitors can learn about its history by speaking with local residents or consulting historical records and documents about Circle's early development.
During the flu pandemic of 1918-1919, the hotel served as an emergency hospital with one room designated as a morgue. During World War II, its restaurant became a gathering place where residents listened to radio news together.
