Hell Creek Recreational Area is a 337-acre park along Fort Peck Lake in eastern Montana offering boating, fishing, and lakeside camping. The site includes a full-service marina and designated campsites spread across the landscape.
The recreational area was established in 1966 and operates under an agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This arrangement has shaped how the land has been managed and developed over the decades.
The Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians manages this recreation area, incorporating their environmental stewardship practices into park operations.
The park has over 70 campsites available, with many offering electrical hookups for extended stays. Basic supplies, fuel, and water access are provided through the marina and onsite facilities.
The night sky here is exceptionally dark with very little light pollution, making it ideal for stargazing and observing planets. Amateur astronomers often visit to take advantage of these unusually clear skies.
