Goldbelt Tram, Aerial tramway in Juneau, United States.
The Goldbelt Tram carries passengers from the cruise ship docks up Mount Roberts in Juneau. The aerial cable car climbs about 1,800 feet and provides access to hiking trails and facilities at the summit.
The tramway opened in 1996 as a partnership between Mount Roberts Development Corporation and Goldbelt Corporation. The venture proved immediately popular with visitors arriving by cruise ship to the region.
The Mountain House at the summit features films about Tlingit traditions and displays authentic artwork created by Alaska Native artists. Visitors can experience local cultural expressions while taking in the mountain views.
The tram operates with two cabins departing every five minutes, with each ride lasting about six minutes. Plan your visit during off-peak hours if you prefer shorter waits at the station.
The base station features an enclosure with a resident bald eagle that visitors can observe while waiting. This offers a rare chance to watch these magnificent birds up close before heading to the summit.
