St. Peter's Abbey, Saskatchewan

St. Peter's Abbey spans across rural grounds with a cathedral, monastery buildings, and agricultural areas maintained by resident monks.

Founded in 1903 by seven Benedictine monks from Minnesota, the monastery became Canada's first Benedictine establishment and served German-speaking Catholic settlers.

The abbey features artworks by Berthold von Imhoff within St. Peter's Cathedral, which was constructed between 1909 and 1910.

The monastery welcomes approximately 3,000 visitors annually for religious retreats, offering accommodation and guided spiritual activities throughout the year.

The abbey maintains traditional practices such as beekeeping and orchard cultivation while incorporating modern administrative duties and technological operations.
