All Saints Chapel of Ease, Historical Anglican church in Saint Peter, Barbados.
All Saints Chapel of Ease is a stone Anglican church in Saint Peter featuring Gothic Revival architecture with decorative masonry corners and a three-part pointed arch window above the entrance. The building showcases traditional design elements typical of colonial religious structures.
The original chapel was established in 1649 as a place of worship for early colonial settlers. It was destroyed by the Great Hurricane in 1831, after which the present structure was rebuilt.
The eastern stained glass window serves as a memorial gift from Thomas Briggs honoring his parents, former owners of Grenade Hall Plantation. The congregation gathers to remember these connections that link the chapel to local land-owning families.
The chapel holds regular Anglican services led by Father Selven Lowe and welcomes both congregation members and visitors. Dress appropriately and be respectful, as this remains an active place of worship.
The churchyard contains the burial site of William Arnold, documented as the first English settler to arrive on Barbadian soil. His grave marks an important connection to the island's earliest days of settlement.
